Have a look at this piece of art he calls ‘Pulse of Life’. A very intense image combining blues, greens, and a seemingly endless amount of reflections. A very energetic image:

Clayton: Before we start, Thanks for taking the time to do this interview. You said you started creating art at a young age, how did your interest in art first come about?

Alexander: My mother started my interest in art, she would do Macramé, Rug Hooking, and some water color painting. I kind of got into it from helping her work on various projects that she would do and then sell to people. That sparked my creative side, and from then on I would draw on my school book covers and on school desk…… basic graffiti tagging.

Clayton: Who or what first attracted you to 3d and computer generated imagery?

Alexander: I first became attracted to Digital art when I stumbled across an artist named Ryan Bliss (DigitalBlasphemy.com)
I was amazed at the scenes that he created just on his computer. So I started learning various programs and searching online for tutorials to help the learning process.

Clayton: How long did you play with the program before you found your style?

Alexander: I would say about 2 years working on abstracts before I developed the style that I really liked…. and even that has evolved somewhat from last year to now.

Clayton: What is the creative process like for you? Do you start with a specific idea or does the pictures mood evolve as you create?

Alexander: For my abstracts It varies… Sometimes I’ll have specific colors that I want to use and kind of create around that. Sometimes I get color ideas from flowers that I might see on the side of the road or a t-shirt I saw someone wearing at the grocery store.
Sometimes I’ll just let my mood set the tone of the image and just play around with it until I get something that I like.
There are times when I would think of an idea in the middle of working on an image….. which is how I end up working on 4 images at once.

Clayton: This ‘Crystallized Abstract’ looks amazing and also very intricate. I can imagine that in this realm of creativity the possibilities to add new elements, and make adjustments are limitless. How do you decide when an image is complete?

Alexander: That’s probably the hardest part, especially since I’m very critical of my own work. If the image has the feel that I want and the colors that compliment it then I’ll say it’s done… but I do have images that I’ve been working on off and on for about a year.

Clayton: Have you ever thought of creating an original painting by copying one of your digital creations?

Alexander: Actually that’s something that I was seriously thinking about doing, I did oil and acrylic painting when I was in High School and I think it would be an interesting challenge to take one of my digital images and turn it into an original painting.

Clayton: What tips would you give artists that are new to digital art or computer generated imagery?

Alexander: Learn as much as you can about the program that you are using.
Don’t be afraid to try new things or new ideas.
Always try to push your creativity to new levels.
Even if you start out emulating another artist’s work, find your own voice and do artwork that
you are not only proud of but can truly call your own.

So for now I am thinking of what to do next, I need to take a break from everything and get a clean slate before I start again. One possibility I’m thinking of is doing T-shirt designs. T-shirt designs is what I started with in online business. So I would have a lot of knowledge and experience going back into it. I am also thinking of doing a lot of YouTube videos for promotion. This will also help me build a following. I will have to decide soon because I am getting bored and there isn’t many things to do besides working on this site.
